Hello. I’m Claudia Arciniegas. I was born in Bogotá, and I’ve always lived here. I love it!
I’ve always loved English, which is why I enjoy teaching it so much. I’ve been teaching English since February 1997. When I began to work as a teacher, I mainly taught kids and teens, but shortly afterwards, I started teaching adults. I’ve worked for several institutions, including language centers and universities. I’ve worked for Universidad Externado de Colombia since July 2009, and all I can say is it is so rewarding to make my personal contribution to the progress of my country through teaching at such a welcoming university.
About my qualifications, I’m certified as an English teacher by the University of Cambridge (CELTA and DELTA) and I also have a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Linguistics and TESOL from the University of Leicester (UK). Regarding international examinations such as the TOEFL and the IELTS, I’ve been preparing candidates for a number of years and I’m proud to say some of them have been admitted at prestigious universities such as Harvard, Oxford, UC Berkeley, and Ohio among others.
Finally, about my lifestyle, I love healthy food so I never eat hamburgers. I also play basketball and walk regularly. When I watch movies, I definitely prefer those based on real life events. I read the news on the Web every day, but I don’t watch TV. I love the Four Seasons by Vivaldi, the 5th and 9th symphonies by Beethoven, Air composed by Bach and played by David Garrett, Joy of life by Kenny G, The Prayer sung by Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion, Brave sung by Josh Groban, La Gota Fría sung by Carlos Vives… For me, no music, no life. And last, but not least, I firmly believe life is beautiful and worth living.
