Maite was born in Bogotá, her mother is American and her father is Colombian. Maite lived in Colombia during her childhood years and moved to Seattle, WA in the United States where she finished high school. Maite went to the Evergreen State College in Washington State where she obtained a BA degree in Liberal Arts with an emphasis in multicultural studies. She later obtained a Specialization degree in Management Skills from the University of Washington State and worked in an NGO for a few years before moving back to Bogotá.
After having obtained her CELTA certification, she started to work as an English teacher at Externado University in January 2006. In 2007, she became the English Coordinator and now she is the Language coordinator for the faculty of FIGRI.
In her free time, Maite enjoys horseback riding, hiking, cooking and spending time with family.
