Martin was born and grew up in Cambridge, England. He studied International Studies for his undergraduate degree at the University of East Anglia, before completing a Master’s at the London School of Economics and later taking the Cambridge CELTA certification in English Language Teaching.
He worked in Public Affairs for Cambridge Assessment after graduating, moving to Colombia in 2013 to start a new career and a new life – a decision he has never regretted. He previously taught English at the Universidad EAN and the Bell School in Cambridge.
Outside of work Martin watches unhealthy amounts of football, especially his beloved United (both Manchester and Cambridge). He loves to read about politics and 20th century history, as well as spend time with his partner and his cat Mao (named after the Chinese word for cat, not the dictator).
