The World in English

The World in English is a twice-weekly elective advanced language course. Some of the topics we will explore current affairs, English as a global language, culture and interculturality, race and identity. The course will also look at developing life skills, professional work interests and lifelong learning. Through class discussions, debates and presentations, students will practice and improve their spoken English skills. Also, students polish their written communication skills through a variety of writing genres. Readings will be both academic, and from different media outlets, including websites and blogs.
Upon completion of this course students will have improved on their English written and oral communication skills. They will also learn how to critically think about their strengths and weakness as future professionals in their particular field of interest.
